Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
This statement is provided on behalf of Oakhaven Hospice and its subsidiary companies and is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (‘the Act’).
At Oakhaven, we are committed to maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination or oppression of any kind, for everyone.
All of our staff and volunteers have a responsibility to uphold our organisational values of TEAM (together, excellence, accountability, meaningful) and CARE (compassion, actively engaged, respect, empathy) to ensure we maintain a working environment that is respectful and free of abusive or unprofessional conduct.
We comply with all applicable employment laws and we are firmly committed to ensuring fairness in the recruitment and progression of all staff and volunteers; permanent, temporary and bank.
Our commitment to respect in the workplace is in line with ethical principles and practices aimed at preventing the exploitation and abuse associated with modern slavery and human trafficking. We have relevant policies in place such as Respect in the Workplace, Speaking Up (Raising a concern /whistleblowing) and Safeguarding Policies to raise awareness and provide guidance to all staff.
We expect a commitment to these principles from all organisations with which we do business and will not support or do business knowingly with any organisations involved in slavery or human trafficking.
If any allegation relating to modern slavery or human trafficking is made, multi-agency safeguarding procedures will be followed and the police will be notified where appropriate.
